Appreciating the Day
Yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But if we live well today,
It makes yesterday a dream of happiness,
And tomorrow a vision of hope.
Hope. Full of hope was what I was.
All ready to plunge into the water,
Were me and all my other competitors.
“Take Your Marks”
And off went the horn.
I pushed off, swam towards the finishing.
It was a very tense competition.
It was a close race,
We all gave it our best,
Fought the good fight.
In the end,
I won the race.
Most of us tend to put off living in the present
So that we would worry about the future.
All of us are guilty of
Poisoning the present, by
Filling our minds with regrets concerning
The things that have happened in the past.
I used to be a puny little boy in the swimming scene.
Now, after winning the race, my name is everywhere.
Everywhere I go, people stare at me, like I am some superstar,
My pride was in the way.
Just because I had the splendor of achievement,
The glory of action,
And the bliss of growth.
Look to this day. For it is life, the very life of life.
It isn’t all about that Olympic gold medal.
It’s all that I have done to get to where I am today.
The perseverance, determination, insistence, willpower and,
The strength of mind!
Well, therefore, look to this day,
For it is the salutation to the future!
